Behind the scenes with BingBee Minimize

This page describes the typical / minimum hardware required to run BingBee.  It also gives a description of tracking techniques and interaction techniques

 Hardware Minimize

This picture shows a diagram of the internal configuration of the BingBee housing. A camera is mounted to the top of a housing that is fitted with a small light. The housing is then attached to the inside of the window. A piece of thick material is attached to the outside of the window using a vinyl sticker. As illustrated in Figure 1 (b) and Figure 2, the system is run on a typical desktop PC (512 MB RAM, Pentium 4 Processor) with a flat panel display placed next to the shop front window. Various tests have been performed to determine the most effective type of material to use to show deformations caused by users pressing on its surface. The current implementation uses a dense upholstery material. Continuing work is being performed in this area to find a more effective material. As can be seen in Figure 2, the only part of BingBee that is on the outside of the shop front is the sticker that covers the front of the deforming material.
